One Stone

Protector of the sheep and pasture
A humble believer would arise
Stood up to impending disaster
Amidst the Israelite's grievous sighs

A musical lad who had magic fingers
Soothed the tormented soul of King Saul
With euphonious melody of a harp that lingers
Later caused the defiant, threatening giant to fall

Convinced God was the righteous master
A convoluted plan was not devised
Gifted skill, a servants will, sling of alabaster
An unprotected slice of forehead, skillfully surprised

David's hand, Goliath's sword cut his head but a sling shot of ONE STONE
Was the catalyst with the lords accord and why King David graced the throne

Sonnets are incredibly difficult to master; you have made a good fist of this one, Donna -- very nicely penned! My best regards. :) john
