One Star Lit Night

Curtains blown open on a star lit night,
while crickets keep time to a song in my mind.
There's a shadow down the hall hidden from sight,
like something I've lost that I wish I could find.

The rustling of leaves from a soft summer breeze,
whispers the freedom you seek is at your command.
I would open that door if I just held the keys
and see what lies waiting in Time's withered hands.

Oooh, the shadow of "Time"! None of us know for sure what lies behind that door, Wren, and the anticipation can be overwhelming. A compelling poem to which all can relate. Excellent writing! A fave for me. Hugs, Carolyn
