One Soul To Another

I feel your pain, and yet I'm unable to rescue you from yourself, and I know in my heart I never will. Looking into your eyes, I see both doubt and love, wondering why I care. I found a boy locked in a man's body, and my heart ached! You were friendless, helpless, and hopeless; how could I not care! My heart instantly made room for you and welcomed you in. Something beautiful happened the day you found a father; I found a son! You lied, you stole, and you connived, but I wouldn't let go, and neither would you! I'm all you have, and I want to make a difference in your life. Separate we're weak, missing a piece of ourselves, but together we're strong, supporting each other with our love. My presence will continue to touch your life, unto death. I hope we meet again in paradise and greet each other, one soul to another, my son! (Free Verse) 3/12/2018

Congrats! your winning poem shows how In recognizing the need in others, God can fills the deepest need in ourselves. Most people do not discuss Paradise ( only heaven) why did you??? I share this hope for one become type of second son to me.Very touching. bbn

Thanks Barbara, heaven is too religious for my beliefs while Paradise leans more towards spirituality than the thought of spending eternity in worship, Emile.
