Notes About The Poem
This is a true event.
One Small Angel
Mother has passed, ninety years of life to end.
Memories will live on, as memories do.
Times past, good and bad, now in equal balance.
A quiet time of reflection, gathering the relics of life.
Boxing cherished items, all of small note.
Mile markers of times remembered.
Dispersal of items to loved ones, in wish to keep the flame aglow.
Slowly a room melts to obscurity, bare walls now bleak and alone.
In last passage, a look beneath the bed.
One small shape rests in shadow, retrieval of one small Angel.
Just a dime store trinket, a lost Christmas joy.
Not a bell or star, an Angel in golden spread wing.
A heavenly message of peace, happiness, thanks.
