One Simple Stone
One simple stone was all it took,
The youth named David carried five,
A sling, strong arm, and well-trained eye
Simplicity to stay alive.
He had no need for heavy mail,
And put his faith in being free.
Possessions tend to slow you down,
And movement was his alchemy.
When life hoists you by own petard,
Let go, choose God's provisions first,
The earth, the Bible, Science too,
Abandon ego, don't be cursed.
Through faith, this youth ruled golden age,
Beloved of God although he swerved
Forgiven times that passion reigned,
A sinful man, by faith, preserved.
Let my true stone be Jesus' death,
God's Grace, my only source of pride,
Look! Demons slain demarcate path,
My purpose simple, be Christ's bride.
