Notes About The Poem
God in his gift of surprises has given me a red rose bud that has survived two nights of frost in our area..Their beauty has inspired me..

One Rose Bud Opens

.
                                           one rose bud opens
                                      vibrant fragant eagerly draws...
                                         night's first killing frost

Flowers, plants in general are much hardier than us humans, and it is sad that they succumb to nature :)

Oh, how sad it is in early spring when flowers start to bloom, only to be struck down by a late frost. I checked "about this poem" and am surprised a rose bush would be blooming this late. I bet they get a lot of TLC from you, Sara. Very much enjoyed your poem. Love, Carolyn

Hi Sara..no I don't want you to remove it you have been a good friend and I would like to help you learn the form. They are not my criteria they are internationally recognized CORE elements of haiku..I didn't even insist on a season word..which is also what most sites agree is most traditional..we are trying for as traditional a haiku as we can get and write in english...

What a beautiful contrast you've put here, Sara! I really enjoyed this one and to know that it was inspired by a true rosebud in your garden makes it even more special :) this in a way is somewhat similar to the haiku I was thinking,,, but I thought of cardinal amidst the snow... thank you for sharing & I wish you the best! thank you as well for you input in my haiku :)
