One Poisonous Drop
It was one drop.
She, in a facade of innocence, released one drop.
But one drop poisons the entire well.
And my mind won't stop turning back to it.
I know it is killing me, but I cannot stop.
I want to not want.
But I have so little control.
The countless minds in my mind dominate me.
So they force me back on this path.
This often treaded path
of longing and hoping and pain.
And my mind cannot but keep following it.
She seduced my mind.
And my mind broke itself against her.
I cannot walk, so I crawl.
I am in pain, but forward I crawl.
For just one more sip, I crawl.
Towards that poison, I crawl.
Even if I could stop,
Even if I could succeed,
I could not overcome,
I will never be free.
By body is poisoned.
It has settled into my skin, my muscle, my bone.
If pure water was brought to my lips
It would be tainted by the undying poison within.
There is no escaping it.
She corrupted it all.
It was one drop.
And it corrodes all things.
Now, I have become a poison.
My very essence turned vile.
I have become a weapon.
I infect all that I touch.
I am the Midas of poison.
I am a scourge.
Her careless drop seeps.
Seeps through all I know.
Through all known to those I know.
An evil is now loosed since I could not process it.
And yet it seems no one else sees.
They don't even detect it.
This polluted, dreadful world masks the evil,
For my corruption is another scream in the winds of chaos.
But I see it.
Within the walls of my mind.
Within my head.
This poison dissolves ambition, love, hope...
It corrupts any virtue,
It reaches at my foundations,
And it leaches whatever bit of life is left.
Without purpose.
When it is finished with me, it will eek into the ground.
No one will ever find a trace.
Not even her who caused it.
For only my tainted eyes see.
So let me rot.
Let my mind rot.
Let my thoughts and spirit and being rot.
Rot to core.
Damn her poison.
Damn my foolish mind.
Damn all parts of the Universe.
So incomplete and alone.
So lonely and alone.
So insufficient and alone.
In another world I am almost complete.
Nearly whole.
A tower of strength.
An unbreakable dam.
A mountain of virtue,
Angelic, nearing cohesion with the complete.
In that world,
I would purge this poison.
But as I am,
I cannot.
So this poison shall purge me.
