One Night Surrender

My darling little one
I love you, only you, always you.
Don’t hate me for falling in love,
I didn’t plan to
It just kind of happened
I realized awhile ago
That I was falling
But hoped to ignore it
Then before I knew it
You were there,
Just like you belonged.
In my head, my heart,
You are my next breath
And the dream that haunts
My every waking hour
The song that fills my life with music
You’re the lover I never knew
You’re the sun, the moon, the stars,
That guides my weary soul
You’re the hope, the dream, that I can be,
I can be everything
The knowledge that plays upon my mind
That there’s so much more to life
And I’ve found it here in your arms
And I surrender
But not you, not to me,
I surrender to the promise in your kiss
In what lies between us at night
I surrender to my love for you.
