One More Pop and No Party

A fifth-grade student who loves attention makes a loud pop The class overreacts, laughing and kicking their feet. I call the student out, he is grinning proudly, acting puffed up... until he notices that his teacher has returned. She says “you have made a mistake. I can cancel tomorrow’s party” This calms them down for a minute or two. She says, “If there is another loud pop, the party is cancelled.” There are two more, because they found balloons. I keep my mouth shut, because I want them to have their party. And I made these kinds of silly mistakes when I was in fifth-grade.
