One More Chance

Has it really been so long since we’ve been together?
How the memory fades with the passing of years…
Why is it not so for tears?
See how I run at the first sign of inclement weather?
I always did fear the storm more than the passing of time.
And so I left you behind…

I can now clearly see the path laid out before me.
And the cost of decisions I have poorly made.
Such is the price I have paid…
I am scared of the future I see coming toward me.
The consequences of actions I cannot undo
That led to me losing you…

There’s a space in my heart that is constantly empty.
A room with nothing but longing for your quick return.
Oh, how the lonely heart burns…

I wasted all of our Spring in searching for Summer.
I traded all of your love for useless romance.
Now, before Autumn fades into endless Winter
	Please…
Just give me one more chance.

I always enjoy the referencing of seasons for "life's time" on this planet. Very nice one, Stephen, and I am happy you enjoyed my limerick with your wife!!

Thank you. This one has music for it as I truly identify as a songwriter. I recently broke a finger and cannot play for a while so I'm stretching myself as a writer lately, I am so glad you enjoyed it.
