One Million Reasons Why I Love You
If I had one million reasons to love you,
I would spend a lifetime reciting them,
and still run out of breath before I ran out of truth.
I love you for the way your name feels like sunrise on my tongue
soft, inevitable, and full of promise.
I love you for the quiet reverence in your presence,
the way you turn ordinary moments into sacred memory.
I love you for your laughter,
that unguarded melody that dismantles my worries
and teaches my heart how to be light again.
I love you for your kindness,
the kind that doesn’t announce itself,
but lingers in the small things
a steady hand, a patient word, a gaze that says “I see you.”
I love you for the way you fight for us in silence,
for the battles you wage on my behalf that I will never know.
I love you for choosing me on the tired days,
on the uncertain days,
on the days when I was still learning how to be loved.
I love you for your mind curious, brilliant, and tender
for the questions you ask and the answers you become.
I love you for the home you build in me,
not with walls, but with warmth,
not with promises, but with presence.
I love you for how you hold my hand like it’s a vow,
for how you say my name in public like a prayer,
for how you stay when it would be easier to leave.
If I counted one reason for every star,
one reason for every heartbeat,
one reason for every time you made me believe in better
I would still need more numbers.
Because loving you is not arithmetic.
It is abundance. It is overflow. It is eternity learning my name.
So here is my one millionth reason, and my first:
I love you because with you,
my soul exhales.
My world makes sense.
And my heart finally understands what it was made for.
You are my joy, my anchor, my endless becoming.
And if love had a language,
it would speak only in you.
