One Long Sleepless Night

One Long Sleepless Night



She has me by the heart

Softly she borrowed through me
All of my defenses
Protecting what I sought to preserve
In the hidden wounds
Of every love I have known
That tore me open
And nailed me up upon its loss

She has softly pulled apart the layers
Of bricked up barricades
And torn down my final
Anguished rejection

She has my heart

And I am stunned by the revelation
It floods me with its truth
And has it’s own spiritual voice

I cannot resist or deny
I am defeated by these tears
I cry

She has me by the heart

Fallen for you
Fallen in every breath
My life
Has been meaningless
I cannot dare to look back
And see myself
Without you

Fallen for you
Fallen in every breath
I am astounded by the depth
Of this love

I just cannot defend myself

I am overwhelmed

How you have my heart
It’s such a complete surprise
How these tears of laughter
Fall from my eyes
My own confession 

I realise
