One Long Day At the Beach
Sometimes
it seems to me
That life is like one long day at the beach
If you’re lucky, it starts out sunny
You play and time is of no concern
The world is warm,
a happy and beautiful place
The day nudges along
There are some rain showers
they come and go
And there’s that darn sun block cream
Who feels like worrying about that?
So, here’s the sun again
It’s late afternoon, early evening
You’ve had fun all day
But now, you’re not feeling so great
Your skin is burning,
Some chills render shivers
You didn’t use that sun block
At least not enough
And boy, now you are going to pay
If you make it
You think about the sand, the sea
And the castles you could have built
but didn’t
Then, you gather your things
and move on
Somewhere
