One Lonely Leaf
The Autumn breezes turned the leaves to gold,
They all stood their ground, and refused to fall
But then the first freeze of Winter took hold
Icy winds did blow, and they heard the call
Except for one lonely leaf that held fast
With tenacity, it vowed to hold tight
And thru the winter it did last and last
Mid icy winds of day, and cold of night
Is it not like a soul, when harsh bells are wrung
Bringing crushing sorrow, uninvited pain
There is one leaf called Hope, resides among
The darkness, to bring happiness again.
As long as that one lonely leaf hangs tight
There will be Hope, and all will be made right!
