ONE LAST TIME

Let me lay my head on your lap Tell you about my day at work See you nod and hum as I talk Just one last time. Let me taste your food one more time Sit and watch you cook Watch you pick every bone with care Count the bowls as you dish out. Let me talk to you, just once more Be completely honest this time Tell you when I'll visit next Not be shy in your presence. Let us sit and talk, one more time Not in Themne, but in Krio So we can laugh out loud As you share your stories. I just need a hug, a kiss on my forehead That silver coin you gave for school I want to see you hide it away Keeping it safe from others.
