One Last Goodbye

Those strong arms
That engulf my soul
The piercing eyes
That transfix me
The soft tiptoes
Now loud footsteps
His gun in his hand
His words muffled
By my tears
I see a blur of him
But see him clearly
In my mind alone
The uniform of war
Now a nightmare awake
One last hello
One last goodbye
To part ways
Are only words
To say goodbye
Lasts a second
To forget this moment
To say goodbye to a friend
Lasts a lifetime
Walking away
Never to see
Hear his voice
My heart aches
My mind swirls
Hot droplets fall from my eyes
To the cold ground below
But to say goodbye
Makes the tears
The happiest ones
To ever fall from these eyes
One last hello
One last goodbye
To a friend whom my mind
Will never forget
