In the morning storm he hums like a bird, but words do not form - for he can't be heard. Catatonic eyes, reflect hypnotised. As he holds back cries he feels paralysed. Anguish from the pain. Suffering alone. Wounds begin to stain hurt he can't condone. Empty from despair - character forlorn. Nothing can prepare broken hearts that mourn. He's miserable. Lost and dejected, so vulnerable, feeling neglected. Melancholic mind - fragile like flowers. Dismal days a grind, he counts the hours. Insecure with life, for it makes no sense. Inflicted with strife, sorrow makes him tense. He sits on the ledge. Breathes one last deep sigh. Looks down from the edge - waves the world goodbye. Silent One Simple Musings 11 October 2017

Lovely words, so well penned. A sad topic, which you have handled well. And I like Old Buck's quote of Bod's regarding "dignity", fully agree.

I think Bob Haigh's comment says it best. 'You wrote with great dignity'. Enough said. Keep them coming and thanks again for sharing with all of us on the soup. oldbuck

Wow! Silent, You captured that feeling of someone hurt and depressed very well. I could feel an intense sadness and pain of this write. It is so sad unfortunate that many people feel. The song that picked to accompany this well written write worked very well. I love Johnny Cash I'm big fan of country music. Excellent job my talented friend- Alexis

So sad, Z. It's really a very touching poem. There are so many lonely and hurting people out there . The first concert I ever went to was a Johnny Cash concert and I went to it with my 1st boyfriend whose name was Johnny and he looked just like Johnny Cash and my aunt was the president of the Johnny Cash fan club there in Tennessee where I'm from. I loved J.C. He was one of a kind...like you, Z. As usual your poetry hits the height of perfection. And, this one reminds me of the saying, "Each tear is a poet, a healer, a teacher".

I think you conveyed perfectly how Johnny Cash must have felt in his last days on this earth; money and fame did not buy him happiness….Awesome emotive write!~Che :)

The best psychology to ingrain in a person, is that the ones who are inflicting pain are just random people in the world among billions, who could have easily never been born. The advice is to dump them, and start anew -- like fresh out of amnesia or a coma. It may mean a new neighborhood, job, etc.

Such a sad one. I think we all get to feeling this way now and then. I think of The Long Black Train song that Cash sang. He was so soulful, just like this poem.

Greaattt write, SO! The message and the flow is very cerebral. Poetically grabbing hold of the other side of pain is an intense feat to perform. Most poets won't go there ... it's a scary place, and they don't think they'll come back w/their sanity intact. I applaud your muse courage. Stay elevated, my talented friend. Love and hugs always.

Sorrow, depression, confusion the ending ties it all together as he gives up on life and jumps over the edge. This one puts you in that state of mind. Sad but real. Your words convey a reality that some succumb to Silent One. Exceptional write my friend. The video was the icing on the cake. Thank you for posting. It is a fav for me.
