Notes About The Poem

Just raw grief. Too many more will follow. My parents generation.

One Last Dance

I held her purse
one
last
dance
with my uncle
before
it
struck
midnight
morning brought the paper
barely
in
the
door
collapses to the floor
Mom
answered
the phone
she fell to her knees
I
  held
         her
              purse
tonight they continue their dance
