One Last Breath
It was completely dark and blurry
Unable to see, the feeling of poking and prodding at me continued
“Please,” she said. “I’m starting to worry.”
I was falling in and out of consciousness
to the sound of a constant beeping
The fuzzy feeling was turning bottomless
I don’t know if I’ll be okay
Or if I will wake up
But I try to keep the silence at bay
as I cling onto life
Keeping it steady, and focusing on breathing
and not so much on strife
I think back to the first time I heard thunder instead
But I’m down to one last breath
