One Hundred Yesterdays Ago

You should have told me One hundred yesterdays ago, You wished No committment, No We! You should have told me One hundred yesterdays ago, Your kisses Had no meaning... Your arms, Shackles to enslave Passion only. Oh, if you had only told me, One hundred yesterdays ago, To believe nothing Of what you said, Nothing of what you did. I would have laughed less When we were together; Not held your hand so tight. Would not have turned the pockets Of my heart inside out, so there Would be no clutter, of other loves Long passed. OH! OH! You should have told me, One hundred Yesterdays Ago!

A thought that often goes through our minds when the end comes. I liked what you said. I opften write free verse myself. It find it easier to express my thoughts when I am not being restricted by rhyme, meter or syllable count. If only is just two words, but oh, the meaning stored into those two small words. If only, is two words.

YES, he should have told you a hundred yesterdays. Love can be one sided where one has a caring heart and the other doesn't. One will be hurt and the other walks away with no regrets. Love this poem as it comes from the heart. love phyl
