One Fine Day
One fine day, when it was too hot
best to sit before a cooler I thought
to sit idle is not my cup of tea
I picked a magazine to see
one recipe just held my attention
let me cook something that all will mention
I found the recipe for a cake
assembled all batter and put it to bake
then I made custard and put it in the chiller
it would be an ideal sweet dish and a filler
then I went back to read
all will be happy with this indeed
all lost in reading and enjoying the cool air
having slogged in the kitchen I thought it was fair
engrossed in the story I lost all track of time
to keep a check on the cake should have been prime
I went in and found the cake burnt
went to the freezer to check the other front
to my dismay the custard had turned into ice
oh no I thought I'd serve custard with a cake slice
now its time for all to come in
have to tell them my efforts are in the bin
got to now order food from a restaurant
the order will be the same , think its permanent
I'll never forget this day
in the hot month of May.
