One Day We Will Find Out

One day we'll find out
there will be no tomorrow.
When physical death occurs,
eternity follows
for atheist and heretic
for doubter and infidel
for apostate and believer.

One day we'll find out
there is life after death.
There exists two kingdoms -
heaven and hell.
And the best part is
we get to choose who
we'll follow into eternity.

One day we'll find out
about election and free will.
Satan made his choice
along with the angels.
Heaven remains intact for those
whom the omniscient Father
knows will be obedient.
God knows who we follow.

One day we'll find out
Death is the last enemy to die,
even time is destined to die.
When time and death shall be no more
we best be prepared for heaven.
The time for choices ends
when tomorrow is no more
and eternity follows.

I somehow think of heaven as more like earth than we might imagine. I believe there will be of course a new earth apart from The New Jerusalem (heaven). Who will dwell there? Might it be the Jewish kingdom on earth so longed for in the OT? Then I guess that would make for three kingdoms? heaven, the new earth, and hell. As I said, one day we will find out.

Thanks, Lu, there are many unknowns in this process of faith; but I guess that's what faith is, trust in God for what we can't figure out. Appreciate your comment.

This is a very well thought out description of the final day, Reason. I think we make a choice early in life as to whether we are preparing for eternal life in heaven. Congratulations on your placement in Silent One's contest with this deserving and compelling poem! Best wishes, Carolyn

thank you, SO, appreciate your comment and placement in your contest. My husband is famous for his line, "You just never know" to which I always reply "but we will find out someday." You are right, very debatable as I'm looking at the poem, AFRAID OF REINCARNATON by Stewart Annie Everestus.
