One Day More

One day more,
Just give me one more
One more chance to tell them
I love them, tell them I care.
Simply say hello,
Let them know that they matter.
That they aren’t just a blip.
They are more than just dirt.
They are beautiful, broken, stardust.
So, can I have one more day?
I have much to tell them
There are stories I want to share with them.
There are stories I wish they had told me.
I want to know of their first love,
Of adventures they had when young
Or of the things that they thought they'd never use, but learned in school anyway.
So one day more is all I ask
All I wish, all I need,
All that I want is
One day more, simply to say that yes,
Yes they are important and,
Yes I loved spending time with them
