One Day
There will come a day
When you won't want
To be held in my arms,
Or ask to be carried
From room to room
There will come a day
When I'll no longer hear
The music of
Your tiny laughter
Echoing through the house
There will come a day
When I'll no longer read
You stories from our bed,
Or sleep next to you
With your half-eaten apple
There will come a day
When it I will miss
The constant chaos
Of cleaning up your messes
And putting on your clothes
There will come a day
When I will say goodbye,
And you will have to forge
Your own path in life,
And tread uncertain roads
And when that day comes,
I hope the love you carry
Will be with you always,
Lighting your way
On the darkest of nights.
