One and Only

Within arms reach
but untouchable

his gaze draws me to him
yet his words slice at my heart like a rusted dagger

When I crave his touch
is when he is most distant

I've had him before
only to let him go

Now I need him
but he is out of sight

And so, with hopes so low
I will keep my head held high

and wait patiently for my one and only love

They appear when you least expect it, it seems. Your last three lines I could really relate to through the trials of unrequited love suffered in my youth. I learned the secret of success through the years. A beautiful write. Congratulations on your wonderful win Angela.
