Thanks Andrea, shame this one was taken out of all proportion and overspilled into some comment threads, cheers David

David, this is remarkably clever and funny!!! Some people claim they are perfect or that perfection exists. I'm more of the belief that we just exist and will hopefully learn how not to destroy what we have here. I'm thinking it's very lucky we have a planet that supports us. I worry that one person's definition of perfection could be our definition of hell, so we should be exercising a lot of care based on science. Take care and many smiles heading your way from yours truly!

Wise words Duke, most of my posts are built around the premise of perception and how reality differs from one person to the next, we are very lucky to have this planet, as we don’t have a replacement lined up if all goes to hell, thanks again for stopping by and perceiving this paradoxical one in good light, cheers David

Can I say, "Vamoose," David? Please... It shouldn't take a direct word for a person to realize when he's overstepped a boundary... repeatedly.

Never is such harassment a threat to you. The fact that he tries is ridiculous. I was thinking of all the poets who would rather enjoy your poetry and comments without being exposed to religious diatribes.

Thanks Lin but there’s certainly no threat to me, however I could see how a person with thinner skin might be intimidated by such behaviour, for expressing themselves into a poem, :)

This is wickly brilliant David. Absolutely brillant. I can't stand people shoving thier beliefs down everyone's throat. People have the right to believe what they want but then should respect that others have the right to disagree and believe differently. Throughly enjoyed your monokus.

Yes I certainly understand the distaste left in the mouth when religion is shoved down one's throat. I left organised religion completely after years if it as a pre teen. I could go on for hours with what my beliefs are but I don't want to be a bore. Lol

High praise Sara, you certainly see these Monoku’s exactly for what they are, non offensive and oxymoronic in nature, had enough of religious dogma being shoved down my throat in school, using corporal punishment, cheers David

Great monokus and I'm smiling at the comments David - you and sing from the same hymn sheet and I can't abide seeing folk on their soap box and having religion rammed down people's throat but they always feel the need to preach lol. hugs jan xx

Heya Jan, People can preach from the highest mountains if they want, so long as they don’t try ramming it down my throat, that soap box is certainly starting to look very slippery and slimy today! Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers David
Date: 4/16/2025 5:01:00 AM
Lol. I see the stones are once again being thrown from the periphery. Your monokus mention God and the devil, yet you don't want to have a religious discussion? Ramming down the throat? Come on David, admit it. You love my little challenges to your philosophy, otherwise you could easily block me. I'm giggling at the comments below. Oh, btw, Jesus preached to the scribes and Pharisees despite their not wanting to hear it. Always hopeful for a change to their stubborn hearts. It was an act of love

if you wish to embrace that false narrative David, your choice. I only came here because I found your monokus stimulated my interest and hence provoked a response. I'm not interested in anything else. Come over to my place sometime and join the happy crowd

You still don’t get it Tommy, the peripheral commentary is from people you have intimidated, offended, and upset here over the years using different aliases, they are certainly not hypocrites, just people standing their ground and saying enough is enough, they are exceptional intelligent poets and not to be laughed at!

If you'd like, I can limit my comments to, "lovely poem." But then it wouldn't be as much fun, would it?

Of course not! Which is why the peripheral commentary is so ridiculously irrelevant. I ignore it though find it humorous, if not hypocritical. No, free speech demands that each of us be allowed to express an opinion or pov. Anyone who posts a religious or political poem, especially one designed to stir the pot, should be up for a discussion and not discourage any who might be of another opinion. It's called healthy debate David, not throat ramming lol

Lots of religions have gods and devils! Do you deny you have had me blocked at least 6 times before the cock crowed thrice this morning! Insofar as tussles are concerned, remember you came over here knowing well I am agnostic, and persisted with religious dogma I never go to any poets page to try further my agnosticism upon them!
Date: 4/16/2025 4:30:00 AM
So true David, nothing is perfect plenty of flaws everywhere, we do strive for perfection but we're not always successful, all we can do is give it our best shot. Tom

Indeed Tom, perfection and mortality are incompatible by their very own definition, we can only do our best until we become (deviants) as the same commenter above and two places below seems to think! Cheers David
Date: 4/16/2025 1:45:00 AM
For God's sake, literally and respectfully. Jesus preached to those who wanted to listen, but he never chased after anyone who repeatedly made it known there was no religious interest. That point has been breached here with an unwanted appetizer that became a plate overloaded until it became a choking hazard. It's unacceptable for one of 'those guys' to continue jawing when ears don't want to listen. It's offensive to you, David, to God and the organization.

Thanks Lin for clarifying that point, Jesus never tried to ram anything down his followers throats, he preached to those who wanted to listen just like you said, just because I am agnostic doesn’t mean I believe Jesus was not a cool guy, my monoku never mentioned any religion in particular, that was just assumed by an opportunist that wanted to put his own twisted version of his beliefs across, as you said flying in the face of the organisation he claims to represent, thank you so much for pointing that out, cheers David

I didn't see a pulpit soapbox anywhere here, shame one was created. I wonder about people who bleach their own poetry in the hope it billows about whiter than white while having simultaneous views about 'deviants' & putting those personal views forcefully on others poetry. Dogma & superiority complexes aren't a viable alternative to an open mind. A veneer of self proclaimed goodness whilst harbouring hate does nothing. Judgement would be on the bits people try to hide from themselves too.

All I see is deflection from my Monoku in the comment below by making up little parables to try convince us that people in a state of desperation are somehow deviants in the eyes of his god! Says so much about the person who wants to mentor self harming teens! > Ok first session let’s get this straight you are a deviant, not desperate!
Date: 4/15/2025 11:47:00 AM
Ahhh the irresistible bait. The Devil was once a perfect angel who made himself imperfect via the misuse of free will. I like to illustrate it this way: a family man, well respected in the community and with a history of good deeds and benovelence toward others comes upon hard times and instead of enduring until relief arrives decides to rob a bank and in the process kills a teller. It's all about the decisions we make David. Perfect or imperfect, it's always about the free will choices

This was my original reply to the comment above, why has it disappeared, seems like someone is trying to corrupt the thread! David Kavanagh Date: 4/15/2025 1:10:00 PM It would take a perfect being to refuse irresistible bait Tommy, good job none of us are, your little parable is full of flaws, does relief always come? Yeah right of course it does, There is no (free will) when a man or his family are starving to death, the (rule book) goes out the window, and all hell breaks loose, look around you, at what's going on in this world and right throughout history for god's sake!

PS. Perfection and eternal life will not be boring. Always something new and fascinating to discover. The universe is a big place. As for Jesus, he is the holy son of God. If you've seen the son you've seen the Father (his words) hence my reference. Hey, thx for providing a forum. Your writes stimulate

By your own admission David (yes, I've seen it with my own eyes several times in your posts) you have no answers, no solutions. Jesus has both answers and solutions. If it's okay I'm going with him. G'night

The poem is about perfection and morality not evil, that’s the problem with you guys selling imperfection as evil, desperation as deviance, and every once in a while acting perfectly sincere! here’s one to mull over I’m off to bed https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/lost_the_plot_to_find_a_way_1356353

Your poem is simpler than basic math. In essence, the Devil is blaming God for creating him evil. God, in turn says you got that right, buster. Gist? The two are in cahoots and ultimately are to blame for all human misery. The premise is a gross error based on a mistaken view of human suffering. If it makes you feel any better most never take the time to explore the simple logical truths as well as the solution. Since you are agnostic, you really don't believe either of the two exist, but in your cynicism you imagine that if they were real a conversation like this one might actually have taken place. I wish I could spend time with you one on one. But in the end, a heart has to be hungry for the truth or it's a waste of time for both

That is just relevant to your own little bespoke parable, so you can argue that one with yourself, I’m looking way beyond little parables at what has been going on in this world since history began, desperation is not deviance, even on a Sunday!I see you have been manipulating the thread again,

Ahh why am I reminded of your suspension bridge poem with this one despite them being so different! Is balance the only perfection? But then we are still left with the question of what is balance? Teetering on the edge of oblivion or being settled into roles (like the above two chatting about philosophy on the regular whilst it's all going on down here). The very fact they are having a chat suggests perfection might be boring :)

This one is actually written as an oxymoron with perhaps both and neither of the protagonist’s getting the upper hand; yeah from this mere mortal’s pov perfection and eternity must inexorably become boring when it goes on forever without change, perhaps this is why mortality exists, and what better way than for us to play it out down here on earth, I don’t think I’ve ever found complete balance apart from setting fire to that suspension bridge I’m delighted you still remember the meaning behind it, ahh I’ll just have to settle for contentment at any given moment, cheers David
