Once Upon a Time

Two of the greatest gifts that God ever gave to mankind were the gifts of TIME AND SPACE. He requires that we use them wisely. We all must beware and take note of the timelines in our time. It's interesting to me that it takes God a certain amount of time to grow a tree, to make and beautify a rose. It amazes me that it took me so many years to take note of the beauty of the rose. I was so busy with life that I never bothered to take the time to observe. One of my favorite commercials is the slogan, "Just Do It". One of my favorite songs is entitled, "Do Something Now". As I think about the slogan and the song, I feel compelled to say, "Just do something now because time will not wait on us". When we were children, my grandmother would send us to the store and invariably she would always say, "Go in a haste and come in a paste". Or was it 'pace'? Anyway, I think that she was trying to be poetic, but I think basically she was saying, "Just get it done". AT BIRTH in '49, I was welcomed into this world along with millions of other babies prior to new abortion rights laws. Communists forces gained power in China, and Apartheid became official government policy in South Africa. The Soviet Union detonated its first atomic bomb At age 10 in '59, I was introduced to Christ and the church. Alaska and Hawaii were admitted as the 49th and 50th states. AT AGE 20 in '69, I was overwhelmed that Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. More than 350,000 music revelers attended the Woodstock music festival. WHEN AGE 30 in '79, I bought my first new car, and the cell phone(1G) was invented in Japan. Iranian students seized the embassy and detained more than 50 Americans. The Iranians held the American diplomats hostage for 444 days. AT AGE 40 in '89, I experienced a very challenging time of living in a 50-foot boat docked in the San Francisco Bay. And later that year, a big earthquake hit California as I listened to the World Series on the radio. Sometime between the decade of '89 to '99, I confronted the 'aging process of time' as I busied myself at the kitchen table in search of a certain street with a McNalley map. I discovered that my eyes no longer functioned for me as they had prior. It wasn't long after that discovery that I was forced to secure a pair of glasses. I TURNED 50 in 1999, and my oldest sister died less than a year after our mother's passing. My sister's younger son was also killed that year. AT AGE 60 in 2009, we were recovering from a huge financial meltdown in The USA. We were later forced to short-sale our house because of that meltdown. AT AGE 70 in 2019, I was still married to the same dear lady after 47 years. I attended an NFL game, the largest venue of my entire life. I travelled more miles than any time of my life. I also took my first flue shot. God has given me 70 years of time, and by His grace, I'm doing my best to make the best of it. 060720PSCtest, Time, Chantelle Anne Cooke. 2P

Curtis, I congratulate you on a life well lived, 47 years of marriage, for surviving the crazy ups and downs of the last 70 years of world history (including the 2020 pandemic) and for winning in the time contest. I was born the year you were born again! I thank God for his grace. Blessings ~ John
