Once Again In Vain

And once again My morning muse wakes me, Wakes me from the womb of ignorance, The night slipping off my eyelids And I open my eyes, Draw the curtains wide open, The whole cosmos embracing me As a mother would do, And like a father, his prodigal son. The day is spent in daily routine As if there’s no dearth of one more day, And before I know evening is not far away, Followed by another morning And one more evening, And the eve of my life draws close, Soon enough I sleep again, Only, this time a little longer, And there’s no once again! I look just as ere, but not see, See through the unknown highways of life, Of ignorance and dreams, But in vain, Alas, all in vain, For, man just looks, seldom to see. ____________________________________ Musings |11.11.2021| Free verse 'A BRIAN STRAND 1092' Poetry Contest
