Once a Cat Asked

A Cat once asked " Where do the children play "
Is it not a question for today
Concrete skies are still being built
Green belt sold, not an ounce of guilt
Road ways widened, airports expanded
Against all guidance and open handed
Rivers dammed, pastures drowned
Industrial wars over open ground
Environmental themes shackled in chains
Shallow thoughts is what remains
Wildlife, fauna, retreat in need
Chemicals, machines murder seed
Oceans empty as the net drags wide
Reef's, coral's, nowhere to hide
Lament the whale in heartfelt song
Of the blue, a right to belong
They say we have come a long way
Nearly thirty years to the day
The question still, " Where will the
children play "

By neglecting to preserve our environment, we are diminishing the quality of life our children (have none of my own, but ALL children) will find in the future. You are an amazing writer who seems to touch on many universally significant issues. Well done, my friend! Love, Carolyn

Good read. Where are the children is a good question these days. When I was a kid - this is 70 years ago - all the kids spent most of their time outdoors. We didn't have the obesity problems we have nowadays...all was, by comparison, so innocent. Love, daver
