On Wings
The summer passes
like all things
but holding onto
the candles we have lit
we can circumvent
the passage of time
our small lights
will continue to shine
through fall and on
into winter
In the waning of the
year
We'll continue to
celebrate
the fact that we have
our songs to sing
and our voices
shall rise
up to the heavens
past the chill, we'll find
warmth
Although it must come to and
end
we'll laugh in the face of time
again and again
