Notes About The Poem

Author’s Notes:  "On Valentine's Day My Love" is a special poem that I've written and I'm dedicating it to my wife Ingrid for Valentine's Day 2015.  May our love continue to flourish and last forever!!  (Gary Bateman - February 7, 2015) (Unrhymed Couplet)

On Valentine's Day My Love

On Valentine’s Day My Love

Our love is quite wondrous and enchanting all the yearlong,
And on Valentine’s Day its sparkles radiantly in Heaven’s very light.

As I look into your eyes My Love I marvel so at your very beauty,
And all the little things we do as One while renewing our love daily.

We seek our fortune and destiny together in all we do in our life,
Making every second, minute, hour, and day count for an eternity.

We are so blessed My Love that God helped us to find one another,
And to make our union of love, respect, and happiness so special.

As we walk now through this life in love as a couple together as One,
So too our eternal souls will walk on Heaven’s footpath always as One.

Valentine’s Day give us that time to reflect on our love so cherished,
And on all the things that matter the most to us beyond any human strife.

And so My Love as we renew our special commitment of love on this day,
We should rejoice in God’s blessing that our love will be One forever!

Hi Sharon, Thanks for your read and wonderful comment here -- and for the "7." I liked writing this particular couplet. My wife Ingrid usually reads everything I write. She and I plan some more co-writes in the future. I hope to be back on-board with PS by May. I'm in the final stage of my book publication. Much yet to do. I hope all is well with you!! I will stay in touch. Best Always, Gary

Thanks Anne-Lise!! Valentine's Day one day a week would also give us poets more and more romantic topics to ponder and to write about. What you wrote to your husband sounds wonderful. That special shared relationship we have with our loved ones allows for such beauty, passion, and growth!! (Ingrid reads all the poems I write . . . a precious influence!!) Thanks for the "7" -- Best Always, Gary

Lovely Valentine sentiments expressed in your poem Gary. Congrats. However, God help the man who forgets 'V' day, eh? I remember learning a very old Valentine love poem when I lived in what was West Germany back then in the 1970's........................ 'Ich liebe dich so fest, Wie der Baum seine est, Wie der Himmel seine stern, Grad, So habt, Ich dich gern'....... ............................. (I love you as much, As the branches on the tree, As the Stars in the sky, Are loved, as you, by I)

Hello Bob!! I'll have to drop by and check out your poetry too!! Thanks for your wonderful comments here. I wrote this poem for my wife Ingrid (who is German). And I see too that you've spent some time in Deutschland. 1970s West Germany -- Great!! I was assigned in Berlin earlier when it was a walled city during the Cold War as a commander of a U.S. Army unit. Ich kenne auswendig auch . . . the words to the old Valentine love poem. Ich finde das auch so ganz toll!! Best Wishes and Alles Gute!! Gary

You know, it's quite a great feeling to feel the love in someone's poetry and it is easily felt in these words, which you've penned.

Hello Liam Mate!! Thanks so much for your leprechaunic analysis here. (I'm posting some special writes for Valentine's Day only.) I've already written another 5 or 6 poems (different topics) that I will be posting next month after I meet my publisher's deadline. It looks like there will be about 120 poems in Part I of the book, followed by the mega-witch epic poem "Rosalia" in Part II. Currently very busy reviewing everything. We will connect later on the co-writes as discussed. Best Always, Gary
