On Turning Fifty
Oh Yes! Oh Yes! My time has come
This half a century, a life full of fun
My childhood filled with happiness and glee
Parents loving, supporting, chastising me
Driving cars, a twenty first party
Married, own house, feeling like a smarty
Career in the making, reaching thirty
Childbirth came late, nearly thirty eight
Forty was tough, divorce, single life followed
Back to the family, dent in pride and wallowed
Directional change, new chapters began
On turning fifty, hoped for a nifty man.
Optimistic fifty, flirty and free
Hey there you! Looking at me.
