On Tiptoes
On tiptoes
I walk into your house
It's a surprise
I can't make a sound!
On tiptoes
I open your bedroom door
I'm so excited
We were so long apart
On tiptoes
I walk to your bed
It's so dark
But I can see you there
I bend over to kiss your face
And stop, frozen in place
There's an arm circling your chest
And another head where mine used to rest
You're not alone
And I didn't know
That I had been replaced
So fast, so cold
On tiptoes
I back off
There's no reason to stay
There's nothing there anymore
On tiptoes
I walk to your front door
I look around and say goodbye
To the future I have no more
On heavy steps
I walk away
Must find my place
Must find my way.
