On the Wings of Flight
I wanted to fly
To prove my worth in glory
To spread my wings in pure delight
Where eagles share my story
To rise above my worldly cares
And claim my dreams of wonder
Where craggy peaks of earth and sky
Beseech the God of Thunder
Where brighter beams the perfect day
Of streams in valleys winding
Where deer and geese and creatures play
In joyfulness unbinding
To see the future that we built
When clouds of rain depart
To seek the shelter of my dreams
The colors of my heart
To soar above the brave expanse
Of peoplescapes below
Where shadows chase our hopes and dreams
In chilly winds that blow
Sorrow is the destiny
Of people on the run
Who chase the breeze of urgency
But catch the sinking sun
The setting is a curtain call
For those who win the fame
Who gain the part but lose it all
By how they play the game
Who buy the sun but not the light
That shines a beam our way
That brings me to the wings in flight
That gleam a brighter day.
