On the Wind

Each of us is a story being told
We all bring something special to the fold
Now these memories I rescind
My life is written on the wind
Never paid attention to the cost
Some times I won, some times I lost
Material things only get in the way
Live each moment, each passing day
I’ve sailed the ocean under that summer moon
I’ll never dance to someone else’s tune
Though my heart be broken and my knees be skinned
I’ll write new chapters on the wind.
There is still so much that I haven’t seen
From the oceans blue to the forest green
If I lost all that I’m fond of
It would be okay because I’ve known love
Days seem shorter as time moves on
The sun still comes up at the break of dawn
Some times I prayed, some times I sinned
My life is written on the wind.
There’s a freedom in the way I feel
Knowing life is a one shot deal
No ribbons on my chest be pinned
My life is written on the wind.

Beautful. A sense of freedom and self assurance flows through it. Great imagery and cadence. ovely to read. Thank you for your support. Writing is good therapy. It is helping me a great deal. It must be hard to see the damage some people do to a child's mind from abuse. So Sad. GBY Love Robin

"My life is written on the wind." is a lovely refrain and a nice sentiment. I love the line"Though my heart be broken and my knees be skinned" it is so endearing, to combine the metaphorical with the literal. over all this is a poem with great charm

that is the most beautiful feeling, knowing we are this silent rebels in a way. we lose some to gain a hole lot, in the end a lesson is learned and guides us through the ruins of what remains. what you said about me should be directed to your poetry, you inspire so much by this wonderful piece. great poem

I agree with Michael, this is definatly one of your very best...and if you have read any of my poems, you probably know how close I feel to wind, as I write about it so much, so boy do I feel this one...my life is also written on the wind, and I march to my own beat for sure...this poem is totally brillaint - a true poetic gem, perfection. wonderful Vince! Reminds me of the carefree life my hubby described - roaming from town to town, playing the rodeo circuit, making the wrong choices sometimes, sleeping out under the stars. I love your poems of "the wind blowing through your hair" type of cowboy existance. They all deserve to be put to music..

Very honest poem......and so true. This is it!! This is our one shot deal. I especially loved the line "If I lost all that I'm fond of...It would be okay because I've known love". That is a wonderful way to look at things! Great poem.....God Bless..Carrie

Very beautiful Vince. An introspective look back and a confident philosophy for today. I don't know why, but the Frank Sinatra song "My Way" comes to mind, only in a much more poetic and pleasing way. We are lucky, those of us who can say we have truly lived, and loved. Wonderful write. Love, Shar
