On the Topic of 'Mothers Getting Their Way'

     If mothers had their way
       if they always held sway
The world would be a duller place
little advancement for the human race

Imagine the mother of brave Admiral Peary
        shielding her precious charge from
Arctic perils, to her so overwhelmingly scary

Or Yuri Gagarin's mom, locking him in his room
never in space 'round the earth three times to zoom

Ah, you say, Prince Charles played polo easy and free
Ha! -- probably drugged Queen E's daily tea ...

Then again, if they always had their way, those mothers
~ their sons would never go to war killing each other

some true insight in your words. I take 'issue' with helicopter moms hovering with their own fear squelching their children.

Great truth here. We hope for courage, wisdom, and morals. You are so right, these young men must walk out their path. Really liked this one!

Hi Gershon, as the old saying goes, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” My mother wanted me to be a well known cartoonist, then I joined the Navy. Go figure, lol! Great poem with a poignant ending. Shabbat Shalom ~
