On the River's Edge
On The River’s Edge
In The Riverbed
I Sat On A Boulder
Sunshine Sat On My Shoulder
In The Water’s Level
Toes Played On Round Pebbles
In Liquid Clear & Cold
Like Reality To My Soul
Muted, Silky Green
Flowing Fresh & Clean
Rushing Somewhere It Seems
Leaving Cares As It Clings …
To River Rocks, As Bright Rhinestones
and Rainbow Trout Rescued From Foam
and A Whirlpool of Flood Strength
Calmed By This Turquoise Crème Rinse …
On The River’s Edge
Splash The Riverbed
Like Some Wet-Ritual Washboard Rub
Or Lathered Bubbles In Bathtub
Dripping Into Streams
and Dipping Into Dreams
The Day Got Lost Too Soon
Mid-Morning Turned High-Noon
Sunlight Became Humid-Hot
I Felt It, Yet Felt It Not
Lifted My Face To A Breeze
Lifted My Lungs To Breathe …
Lifted Hopes To Believe
Lifted My Heart To Heave
… Lifted Bare Feet To Leave
Lifted Life To Retrieve …
From The Slippery Aquamarine
By The River’s Edge
Of The Riverbed
A Little Wiser, A Little Older
A Bit Stronger, A Bit Bolder
River’s Edge or Bathtub Rim
Both Reaches Out With Latch-On Limbs
Both Can Soothe A Body’s Aches & Pains
and Both Can Swallow What Souls’ Drain
… like The River’s Edge
In My Riverbed
