On the Porch
On the porch
Early morning hour
Birds noisy
What's the matter
Rise to see
What's the commotion
Birds in pear tree
Create an explosion (of sound)
Draw nearer
To the tree
Just to see
What could be
There were birds
Of many species
Dance, jump
From tree to tree
Mocking birds
With unusual
Sound, red
Cardinals with a bound
House finch
Doing their thing
Other birds
Added their ring
Boy how could
They sing
Be bopping to
Their own song
All that was needed
Was a loon
Adding his
Trumpet tune
Then I could have
Danced all around
On the ground
Soon its quiet
Still, silence
Penetrates the
Early morning;
Briefly in the trees
Birds got along
Just singing,
Feeding on pears
And bugs
God had just
Sent me a
