On the Ocean Waves

On the ocean waves ride the remnants of lives destroyed From distant shores decimated by nature’s wrath With little warning of the impending tsunami roar Hopes of a calm prosperity were instantly dashed On the ocean waves ride items once belonging in homes Floating eastward are mementos eternally lost No one left to claim the memories they held As human lives are tallied in the disastrous cost On the ocean waves ride reminders of a delicate life Always at the mercy of what nature might claim In the blink of an eye, a world turned upside-down Regardless of achievement, regardless of fame But for the mercy of God, That could be our lives Riding On the ocean waves

A powerful poem of devastation. How tragic for those caught in natures furry. Well written.
