On the Eve of a Peaceful Dawn
Lay these memories of a flashbang lit night gleaming in the backdrop to rest
I walked a complicated path with you for so many bitterly conflicted years
My mind is tired, so tired, and weary of the future if I cling to something already gone
My sadness turned to anger, and back to hollowness in this cyclical whirlwind of emotions
Let me finally release the burden of this day, these memories, this conflict
Nobody won and nobody needs to lose anymore with the mortar’s last hot glow afoot
Bow and bid farewell, as I no longer wish to be unwell, or under a spell to dwell on my personal hell
Wake up tomorrow and keep the memory etched in stone but don’t let it stretch you thin
Don’t lose who you are, don’t pretend, just practice acknowledgement and let progress begin
