On Starry Night

                                            On Starry Night

                                           On a starry night
                                      Staring at shining stars
                                  With pure delight to the soul,

                                    Bemused by infinite space
                                        Stretching to the sky
                                          On a starry night,

                                    Baffled by sheer distance
                                    Is the simple human folk
                                      Staring at shining stars

                                           On starry nights
                                          Gazing at heaven
                                   With pure delight to the soul.

I do like this poem. I am always looking to the sky. i look for the moon and the stars. My fav. moon is the full moon. i often see a facei n the full moon. do you see a face in the full moon? I often gaze at the full moon and sometimes at some particular star early in the morn, before dawn shining in the eastward horizon. In a blue clear sky when stars twinkle like sequins stitched on blue chiffon is a wondrous sight. How many poems must have been written through ages celebrating the beauty of starry nights. I have myself written several of them, one published in Poetry Soup is "A Little Child of the Night". Another one "Gazing at the Stars", self published in a collection of poems" Spirituality and Beyond", does not feature here. The snag with the present poem is that it has to be within constraining parameters imposed by the contest. Wish you a pleasant afternoon.
