Notes About The Poem

On Spirituality

I'm a believer in a higher power,
a power greater than myself, but I'm 
infinitely more spiritual than religious.

Through the lens of my belief system, 
I search to find meaning in life 
and what matters most to me. 
I search for inner peace and harmony.

Spirituality, I feel is...
a deeper connection with God
a celebration of life; the spiritual path 
that makes the most sense to me.

I maintain my spiritual equanimity by... 
being centered in myself,
being grateful for big and small blessings,
being fully present in the here and how,
being one with nature, appreciating 
it's breathtaking beauty.

Some prefer to reach God through prayer,
some prefer to do so through doing good
for others. I do much more of the latter.

That's how I retain 
my connection with God. 
My spirituality is the doorway  
to my peace of mind.

Carber May 7, 2020 at 12:49 PM I agree with you that faith/spirituality is much more important than religion, especially when the later is dogmatic and judgemental [as seen in both some believers and some atheists]. I probably do more prayer than 'good', but I suspect you're a better person-- congrats Edward on your win!
