On Returning To the Metropolis

Spent some time
in the country
      Forest full of trees,
lakes full of fish
     Deer walking by
as hawks hover overhead
    Contemplating nature
has its rewards
     But now it is time
to return to the metropolis
      Crowded streets,
people rushing by
      Skyscrapers stand tall
in the summer air
      Taxis whizz by
as bicyclists weave in and out of traffic
      Beautifully dressed women
and elegant men
     dot the urban landscape
In the playground kids play handball
      and bounce basketballs
I have returned to the asphalt homeland
      where I belong!

I agree; it's nice to getaway to nature, but it's always nice to be back home. 'Asphalt homeland' nice phrase. Warm Smiles, Connie

oh you are so great, loving the asphalt jungle over nature's. And it is so COOL because it is uniquely you.

This is good that you came back. I love the City life. The country is alright for a visit, but not to stay at least not for me. Sorry I have not been around much, but I have been very sick since May. Thanks for sharing.... Lucilla

Matthew a nice portrayal, rich contrast between taking a refreshing break into rural quiet beauty and then itching to get back to "the asphalt homeland" ... :)
