Listen to poem:
On Parole in Nature's Gaze
Silent stilled waters languish,
untouched by glint of refection or shadows,
as dawn breaks on eerly quiet pond.
All are enchanted by the petrified stillness.
Etched as a reverie slate of emotion.
Bare fingers tremble.
Clutch a smooth, flat pebble.
I could hurl it—
to cast a counter-spell.
To shatter this moment,
to skip, hop, skim, and tease ripples across
this fragile mirrored surface—
but I fear the consequences,
of Nature waiting, watching, stalking, on-guard,
to catch me breaking my parole.
