On My Own
What do you hope to see when you look so deep in my eyes
There is nothing but emptiness
at 16 you'd hope that I'd be like every teenager
but no am not
Tormented by the past
Scarred by the present
Afraid of the future
I become an outcast
even to my own self
What do you hear when I speak
Do you hear the pains in my voice
Or do I cut you with the sharpness of my tongue
Undisputed that's what I am
but yet misunderstood is what they see
A lonely smile and a battered heart
A frightful stare
but still a wasted space
I can't make you love me
I can only make you see me
I can't change the past
but I can only write my future
I can't make you understand the hole in my heart
but I can fill it up with they things I seek
I can't make you take back those words
that still haunt me even if they were not direct
but you know what,
I can do just fine without you
