On Mornings Like This

The fading moon looks upon the road
as the sun rises over a field.
Grasses dance in the wind
in a quiet place where life begins.
The first day of the week
a new place to stand
A road once torn must be rebuilt--
the weary heart bears its age.
Contrails in the sky of a jet plane
spread in the sky and disappear
another journey taken in time.
A lone worker stands in place
and a line of cars passes
people waving like friends he knew.
A breeze sings, the moon gone
never lost when remembered.

Mike, a beautiful poem and imagery. A great one for the challenge.

A quietly reflective free-verse meditation, this poem moves beautifully from the fading moon and rising sun to the human traffic of a new week. Its unforced images—dancing grasses, dissolving contrails, the lone worker, and the remembered moon—make renewal feel both ordinary and deeply tender.🌕🌞✈️💖

Beautiful one. I think you said you had a book signing in Davenport. I really miss my old stomping grounds in Iowa. I wish I could have ever done a book signing or even readings. I think I was must be better for piers than Iowa is
