On Helping Others

My siblings complained I was far too imperious
my folks thought my passion for sports deleterious

  Friends thought me mostly mysterious
by 27, I was working in Tiberias*

Sometimes those who are near us
And count themselves most dear (to) us

In directions misdirected would steer us
when all we ask from them is just cheer us

I have to say that it is nice to learn about your good work among the returning Jewish population and those suffering from poverty. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

Yes, there are those who would control us, and that is never fun. Very interesting history on your travels. 1978 had its share of difficulties for my husband and I as newlyweds, it wasn't easy, and we had our doubters too. I'm glad we didn't allow others to steer our lives. The hard times build us up and help us to appreciate the good times all the more :)

Good for you, BJ... As for me, I should have listened to some older, more experienced folks. Wound up 'losing my shirt' back then. ~ Water over the dam

Words from experience you have written my friend. Sometimes those that wish us well can be wrong in their direction of us not by mal intent but by error. Your direction and efforts in life will be rewarded for it was your good intentions and trust of others that brought you there. A learning experience for you and a careful advice in the future for them... We all have our stories of advice that did not fair so well when taking, hope you have moved on, I know you have. You can't keep a good man
