On Fidelity

On fidelity

The heart, simplistic, gnawed if left exposed
Be covered, shuttered thus pinfold enclosed
Is certain that the fairer, man will draw
And ipso facto balance will restore
With ego’s filled to full capacity
That rip the very fabric; chastity

Fidelity: the promise that, unfortunately, few are able to keep! Captivating and deep!

I am glad that you wrote this poem. To me fidelity is everything. it should work both ways - not just for men. Thanks for reading my poem. I wrote it thinking of things my husband used to tell me... Good night.... Lucilla

As I've told you before Andrea, I'm a slow writer, don't have that gift of proliferation. I spend more time on comments, which I really enjoy doing, but you are right, I should put more concentration into writing.

If most men put the same effort into keeping their woman as they did in pursuing her more relationships would remain intact. Great poem and I am enjoying the comments.

That's right Sis, wet those hinges well, get em right rusted, that should do the trick. Thanks at avatar, like your new one too, at first glance I thought Queen Victoria had joined the soup but soon realised it wasn't as you're way prettier

Mr Seal...This is an interesting read indeed. Chastity belts were the thing way back when to keep young ladies or married ladies...out of trouble...WOW! Wasn't the emphasis on the wrong place? Women always...MOSTLY...get the blame, as men are deemed to be sheep led to the slaughter....Society forgets that for most men, it is just an act...for most women it is an affair of the heart...The key to keeping those vows is nurture and fulfilling needs. We are, after all....human!

I don’t share the view that women are to blame, most women know exactly what men are. Women have their own set of motives, for some it is just the excitement and the sex, for those where it is an affair of the heart, they fall in love and they are out to get that man, whether he’s married or not. And yes many a lamb has been led to the slaughter but in the end, the blame lies with him. I agree entirely with last part of your comment. .

Yes castity can easily be ripped and fidelity betrayed if our ego takes over our dignity and lust takes over love..excellent!!tnks for stopping by my humble verse

I agree Sara, but we are all selfish to a point, controlling that is the key, thanks for your input, interesting point you make
