On Death
"Dead cat
lies in the gutter
Forgotten
and dead
Old hat,
discarded,
collects the rain
Time is endless
but indeed,
had a beginning
Dead stars and
broken cars
litter the universe
And an end awaits
at the terminal
She cries
In remembrance
of her long dead love,
the one she could not live without
but did
He was buried
long ago
And wasn't
too pleased either
But no one asked him
for his preference
so he's gotta take
the dirt given him
She can't forget
She's still in love
But time beat her
and she deludes herself
with thoughts of old
He's cold
very cold
And doesn't
look the same
He has been dead
six years
And though
he's not enjoying
it either
She does less
No one asked her
for her opinion
She would't have
given one anyway
But life goes on
Does it?
He doesn't think so
Nevertheless,
the universe spins
towards destruction
I await it,
smiling saddly."
