If I have the time, dear- on Christmas Day,
I will visit your frosty engraved name;
and will kiss your photograph in the frame,
and weep and pray over the place you lay.
But, Christmas Day is so much brighter now,
over the years I have collected friends;
and with them under my wings love extends,
I have a great tree with lights on each bough.
Will be with sister and brother this year,
and their spouses and all their super kids;
I cannot eat sweets- my doctor forbids,
oh, how I wish you could be with me dear.
I cherish the sweet memories of us,
but, I have made new beautiful ones too;
nowadays- I am not everyday blue,
yes, darling how I miss your soft caress.
Oh, let me put my deep sorrow away,
for it is now time for Christmas and love;
God took you home on the wings of a dove,
be still- ever will your memory stay.
